Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links … Colts writer gives three reasons why the Eagles will win on Sunday – BGNThe Eagles showed some signs of vulnerability during their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. The good news is that Carson Wentz is coming back Philadelphia Eagles T-Shirt , but the bad news is that Philadelphia still projects to be depleted at the skill player positions. If you’re among those who might not be feeling super confident in the Eagles for some reason, today’s post might have you feeling a little better about the reigning Super Bowl champs.Eagles-Colts Preview, Wentz Returns! – BGN RadioJohn Stolnis and Brandon Lee Gowton drop knowledge on the upcoming Eagles-Colts match-up in Philadelphia. Updates to the injury report, how much the Eagles miss Reich, how refreshing it is to have Carson back and how good/rusty he’ll look, Jordan Matthews talk of course PLUS NFC East picks! All that and more on BGN Radio #10!Preview: Eagles host Indianapolis Colts – KYWThe Eagles will be shorthanded at running back as they welcome quarterback Carson Wentz back to the huddle Sunday against the Colts at home. KYW Newsradio’s Matt Leon spoke with Brandon Lee Gowton of BleedingGreenNation.com about all the moving parts on the Eagles offense.A look at Jalen Mills’ ugly game against the Buccaneers, with video and stuff – PhillyVoiceIn the Philadelphia Eagles’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, cornerback Jalen Mills was bad. #Analysis. By my count, he gave up 8 receptions on 8 targets for a buttload of yards and a couple scores. There were 0 wags of the finger. Before we show all 8 targets, it’s fair to note that Mills had an incredibly difficult job on Sunday. On any given play, he was facing off against DeSean Jackson, Mike Evans, or Chris Godwin. Jackson is arguably the most prolific deep threat in NFL history, Evans is a 6’5 monster who has topped 1000 yards in each of his first four years in the NFL, and Godwin is a very good Philadelphia Eagles Hats , up-and-coming receiver. All three players are different sizes and shapes with varying skill sets, and Mills was asked to man up on each of them. As you saw, it did not go well. Here were all 8 of Mills’ targets on Sunday.Best bets on Week 3 NFL games – ESPN In$iderI was shocked to see the Eagles open up 6.5-point favorites at home to the Colts, and then for the line to be pushed down to -6 Monday morning at multiple shops. We recommended a play on the Eagles at -6 in my column Tuesday and the current -6.5 is plenty worthwhile as well. This is still an Indianapolis team that ranks 26th in offensive efficiency and 15th in defensive efficiency so far this season. I wrote Friday in the Colts/Redskins preview that final scores can often times be deceiving. Most of us didn’t realize initially how poorly the Colts played in Week 1 because they had a lead early in the fourth quarter, but the Bengals actually gained 6.6 yards per play on offense (just as much as the Chiefs, which tied for the fourth best output that week). Despite a win in Washington this past Sunday, the Colts were a net +0.0 yards per play. We know what this Eagles team is capable of, and it’s certainly more than whatever the Redskins have to offer (sorry, fans). This 6-point spread is the same number Indianapolis was getting this past week in Washington.Offense Faces Test With Injuries Mounting – PE.comThis injury report, well, it’s not very favorable for the Eagles. Running backs Jay Ajayi (back) and Darren Sproles (hamstring) are out for Sunday’s game against Indianapolis. Corey Clement, who is the next man in line to carry the football, popped up on the injury report on Friday with a quadriceps injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday. OK, so this is kind of getting intense. The Eagles’ only healthy running backs are Wendell Smallwood and Josh Adams. Clement may play on Sunday – we don’t yet know his status. But the Eagles have to be prepared to go with Smallwood and Adams the whole way, if need be. That’s how serious it is at the running back position for this football team. Can Frank Reich’s knowledge of Eagles offense help Colts pull off an upset Sunday? – InquirerReich’s familiarity with Doug Pederson’s offense could be a benefit to the Colts defense Sunday Philadelphia Eagles Hoodie , though he downplayed that earlier this week when he spoke with the Philadelphia media on a conference call. ”I really don’t think it’s as much of an advantage as some people might think,’’ he said. “I didn’t spend hours with our defense trying to explain every nuance of the offense and what coach Pederson and coach (Mike) Groh (the new offensive coordinator) and (offensive line) coach (Jeff) Stoutland are trying to do. “I talked about some of the players. I talked a little bit about a few philosophical things. But my experience over and over again being in these situations is that it usually is overplayed. You give a couple of nuggets [of information] and then you go play ball.’’Nick Foles fighting ‘prideful’ thoughts as he passes baton to Carson Wentz – NBCSPNick Foles comes across as almost obsessively humble and unselfish. When it was time to pass the baton to Carson Wentz, the Super Bowl MVP did it without flinching. Inside? It wasn’t quite as easy as it looked. Foles said Thursday he has to constantly fight to suppress the thought that he should be playing, that he should be The Guy.PFF’s 2018 NFL Week 3 spread picks – PFFWhen you attend the church of Doug you quickly learn that Doug is not one to make bold decisions that are not well founded, so it is with confidence that we assume Carson Wentz isn’t going to roll out there with a limp and no idea what he’s doing. Let’s not forget that Wentz earned a top-10 grade when clean, under pressure and on third-down last season while leading the league in accurate pass location throwing to receivers in tight coverage. Given Wentz is able to run Pederson’s masterful offense at 80 percent of what he did last season the Eagles should have zero trouble scoring on the Colts _efense that ranks 21st in our defensive power ranking so far this season. The Colts offense ranks 31st and goes up against an Eagles defense that ranks third and has not missed Patrick Robinson’s slot coverage at all with Sidney Jones allowing a 56.3 rating from the slot. Andrew Luck currently owns a 30.8 passer rating under pressure and has the fifth-lowest under pressure grade, and while that is unstable, he has yet to face a defense that is able to create pressure like the Eagles front. This one is a step back for Captain Drew.Bold Predictions: Colts vs Eagles week three – Stampede BlueThe Colts have what is probably the toughest game on their schedule coming this weekend–a road game against the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are battered with injury, missing key players all across their offense. Their star quarterback will make his debut, but it is fair to expect some rust from him. Regardless, this is not a team that won the Super Bowl by accident. This is a very good football team with the kind of depth that the Colts are absolutely hoping to build in the coming years. The defense from top to bottom is second only to Jacksonville in terms of quality that the Colts will face this season.Would you rather pay up to trade for Earl Thomas now or gamble on signing him in 2019? – SB NationEarl Thomas is a game-changing safety. The heavy-hitting outfielder was a key component of the Seahawks’ Legion of Boom defense, a big-play eraser who helped push Seattle to two Super Bowl appearances and one NFL championship. But now he’s stuck in limbo as Pete Carroll rebuilds in Seattle. Thomas is one of the few recognizable veteran faces on a roster that looks nothing like the teams that terrorized the NFC West for the better part of the past decade. Richard Sherman is gone. So are Kam Chancellor, Cliff Avril, and Michael Bennett….Social Media Information:BGN Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBGN Twitter: Follow @BleedingGreenBGN Manager: Brandon Lee Gowton: Follow @BrandonGowtonBGN Radio Twitter: Follow @BGN_Radio Welcome to the Week 7 Edition of Studs, Duds Customized Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys , Sleepers, & Busts. Before we get to this weeks content, lets take a quick look back to last week:Bust of the Week:Me…I wasn’t able to get a column out last week. Sorry, fam.Year to Date Accuracy:Week 5 Accuracy: 8 of 12 correct (66.7%)Season Accuracy: 28 of 59 correct (47.9%)A solid week 5 almost has me batting .500 on the season.Stud:A poorly ranked fantasy player (ranked as a ‘poor play’) who will finish the week as a ‘good play’. (Week 5: 2 of 3 correct)Phillip Rivers, QB – Los Angeles Chargers (Projected Points: 18.6 – Positional Rank: 11th)Brandin Cooks, WR – Los Angeles Rams (15.9 – 15th)LeSean McCoy, RB – Buffalo Bills (14.7 – 16th)Rivers has quietly has 1700 yards and a 15:3 TD:INT ratio on the season. While he has not been getting the respect of a top flight fantasy QB, in week 7 against Tennessee he should ball out. With Cooper Kupp out, Brandin Cooks’ stock goes up in San Fran, and former Eagle LeSean McCoy could have his best game of the year against the lowly Colts.Dud:A highly started player (projected > 4% ownership on DraftKings) who will finish the week as a ‘poor play’. (Week 5: 3 of 3 correct)Trey Burton, TE – Chicago Bears (7.3 – 9th)Peyton Barber, RB – Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11.3 – 31st)Julian Edelman, WR – New England Patriots (11.2 – 19th)Former Eagle Trey Burton heads to New England who has been exploited by the air attack this year, but unfortunately for him, the Bears offense is way too inconsistent to be trusted. Peyton Barber will be highly started due to the fact that he is playing the Browns http://www.authenticsphiladelphiaeagles.com , but relying on someone who is averaging just 3.7 yards per carry and 46 yards per game is straight silly. Don’t be silly.Sleeper:A player who is not started often (projected < 4% ownership on DraftKings) but will finish the week as a ‘good play’. (Week 5: 0 of 3 correct) Karla Cousins, QB – Minnesota Vikings (19.5 – 6th)Mark Ingram, RB – New Orleans Saints (10.6 – 13th)Devin Funchess, WR – Carolina Panthers (12.5 – 27th)Mark Ingram has been a fantasy stud for years and as long as he is still playing in Sean Payton’s offense, he will continue to be. Funchess has a tasty match up against Malcolm Jenkins and 3 pieces of burnt toast and should have a huge day. Bust:A highly ranked player (ranked as a good play) who will finish the week as a ‘poor play’. (Week 5: 3 of 3 correct)Cam Newton, QB – Carolina Panthers (19.3 – 3rd)James White, RB – New England Patriots (13.5 – 9th)Tom Brady, QB – New England Patriots (16.3 – 4th)James White is still a talented player but there are simply too many mouths to feed. Sony Michel has become the fantasy running back to own on the Pats. TB12 always has a chance to break down the doors, but in a tough match up against the Bears in Chi-Town, I’m taking the field. *Note: In a never ending effort to bring you the best fantasy article I can, I have tweaked the “stud” definition to something I think might be more helpful. Also, per the poll in week 5, all rankings and projections will be PPR from now on.
